At about four in the morning, while traveling on state
highway 39, north of Dennison Iowa, I ran up on a herd of
horses. Most of them got away, but I did hit one. When I got
out to have a look at the damage, I was surprised that my
Pete only had minor damage. I was on my way in a few
minutes.

June 2001, 5 kilometers west of the Hemlo Goldmine, on Hwy
17, I ran into 3 Moose. I clipped one with the driver side
corner of my bumper, the second ran directly into my
trailer. While I was watching them both stagger away,
through my rear view, a big 1500 pounder came out on my
right. This one hit hard, my truck actually went airborne.
Fortunately, my Ali Arc Protection bar stood up to the test.
While there was some damage to my truck, I was only down for
about 30 minutes. The cost to repair all the damage was less
then $3000. Without the Ali Arc bar, I would easily have
been over $30,000, not to mention all the down time.

We have been using the “ROOBARS” on our trucks for a number
of years now and we would not even consider purchasing a new
unit without one. The price of the Roobar is not a question,
considering what the price of a new truck is. The area that
we haul to can be very highly populated with moose. Last
spring one of our drivers counted over 40 moose in one 11
hour shift…We have hit a number of moose where all we had to
do was bend the bar back into place. We would have no
hesitation to recommend…

I was in my sleeper, while we were en route to Alaska… when
this horrific crash occurred. I was sure we had hit a
vehicle… My co-driver thought it was a moose, he only saw a
shadow and BOOM… he never had a chance to touch the brakes…
we stopped to assess the damage… there
was no doubt about it, we hit a moose… It hit hard enough
that the radiator moved back on the rubber mounts and left
an imprint of the fan hub in the radiator fins...no damage
to the Rad… I was able to straighten and repair the grill
myself in my shop after the trip… Without the Roo-Guard
there is no doubt that the trip would have been over right
on the spot! I would have lost the revenue for the trip, the
truck would have been towed back to Edmonton, and the Hood,
Grill, Shutters, Radiator and who knows what else would have
been destroyed. Plus the truck would have been down for a
month…

…I was southbound on highway 21, south of Delbun, Alberta,
when a northbound car crossed the centerline and hit me head
on. The bar took the brunt of the impact. The car spun and
bounced down the side of my truck… I sincerely believe that
if it were not for the bar, the car would have gone
underneath the truck, taking out the front axle, and I would
have lost all control of the truck… I was carrying a full
load of ammonium nitrate, solution, the outcome of this
accident could have been much worse.
